Sunshine bliss

As autumn sets in and the air begins to turn chilly, there’s something magical about the sun breaking through the clouds. It’s the perfect time to cozy up with a warm mug of hot chocolate.
In our household, we cherish these moments – kids playing, laughter in the air, and the delightful aroma of chocolate treats. We believe in making the best of every season, and for me, autumn means indulging in my favorite hot chocolate, which comes with a surprising twist – a touch of chili. I use real chocolate, witch I melt on low heat before pouring in the milk and spices. I love to use cinnamon and nutmeg in my hot chocolate. It just adds that special something. I it’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest pleasures can bring the biggest smiles.

Join me as we explore the joys of this seasonal delight.

Hot chocolate with a twist

  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 long red chilli, cut into bits
  • 150g Dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 nutmeg
  • Whipped cream, to serve

Heat the milk, cinnamon stick, nutmeg and chilli in a saucepan over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes. Set aside for 10 mins to infuse and let the taste set.

Strain into a saucepan, remove the chili and cinnamon stick. Reduce heat to low. Add chocolate and whisk until smooth, making sure that the chocolate is completely melted.

Pour into nice big cups. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
